The Blue Field Entoptic Phenomenon is a unique visual experience commonly described as quickly moving white dots in the periphery of your vision. Another name for this is called Sheerer’s Phenomenon. This is usually seen easier when staring at a blue sky or at some form of blue light. The blue field entoptic phenomena is believed to be caused by the refraction of light through white blood cells traveling within the retinal capillaries.

Because the center of your eyesight comes from the part of the retina that has no blood vessels overlying it, that is why you do not see the blue field effect in the center of your vision.
The reason the blue field entoptic phenomenon is more easily seen when looking at blue light or the sky has to do with red blood cells ability to absorb blue light at 430nm of light.

People who have cataracts or wear colorful sunglasses that shift the light spectrum away from the blue light zone may not notice the blue entoptic field phenomenon as much.

Another commonly seen visual disturbance includes eye floaters, which are often seen as small black spots or cobwebs that drift back and forth in your eyesight when your eyes track and move.
Eye floaters commonly develop as we age and can be very bothersome for a lot of people. Eye floaters are an accumulation and build up of small collagen proteins within the gel of the eye called the vitreous humor.

New onset of floaters can carry a 5% risk of retinal holes, retinal tears or retinal detachment. Always seek immediate care with your local eye doctor when experiencing sudden changes to your vision or eyesight. More info on retinal detachments https://youtu.be/UcF66rOo-Go
